Our target audience is teenagers and young adults, the image above show items that are often associated with teenagers. There is a common method in researching about target markets and separating the different groups of people within society, this is called demographics. Each group within society is separated into 6 different groups, these are separated by each letter, individual income and job description.
This shows what the intended audience would be for each section and therefore producers can do additional research and study whether that particular music video or programme would be successful or not for that audience.
An example of this is television producers know a programme such as 'Beenys restoration nightmare' is popular with the mass market as it is reaching 1.9 million viewers coming 7th in the Channel 4's top 30. However, the social grade scale would benefit their research as it shows that C2 and D are more likely to be interested in a programme like this.

However there are some disadvantages with using a social grade system, as it does not consider all factors. An example of this is that it does not take into account the budget of each individual. This may be needed in order to make research reliable and accurate.
