A digipak is the artists’ packaging that comes inside a CD.
Typically, a digipak consists of the front cover which usually has the artist/band name on and a picture of them or something related to them.
Secondly, the back cover would usually include the track names on. A barcode for the shop and the record label's logo would be on the back of the album at the bottom.
Inside the CD, the digipak usually contains of a paperback booklet of pictures of the artist, lyrics and pictures. The CD itself normally could have an image on it, which could be the artist or band, album name, album cover or just an image.
Sometimes the CD contains bonus tracks which do not get released, this is another incentive for the target audience to buy their album. This allows the audience to think that they are 'better' fans if they buy the album as they are spending money on it and not illegally downloading it and then for buying it they are getting the bonus track which only people that have bought the album has.
The digipak is also a good opportunity for the artist to thank their fans, or to write a message 'directly' to the fan. This is also a good way of marketing and telling the fan how loyal they are for buying the album.
