Idea of backcover for digipak
This is one of our ideas for the back cover of the digipak. We thought that the colour was easier to read than any other colour we had tried against the dark, contrasting background. The font fits in with the Kate Nash type genre as it is different with a feminine twist. Initially we put the song names in the shape of a rainbow in an attempt to portray the artists personality and genre, however this made the back cover look too crowded. Therefore, we eventually decided on putting the song titles down the right hand side as it was an unused space, and overall the back cover looked more aesthetically pleasing with the song titles moved.

Digipak idea
We decided that we wanted to include a picture in the digipak with the lyrics of the song that we are making a video to as this would allow the audience to feel more connected with the audience as they can sing along and get involved with the song. Also, from having the lyrics in front of the audience, this will help them too understand the meaning of the song.

montage of digipacks
These digipaks have inspired us because it shows what the consumers expectations of a digi- pak will be after looking at various resources from other artists. Each individual artist has tried to make their digi-pak stand out, which means our digi-pak will have to have to have a USP in order to be the most popular in a market that has significant overcrowding of artists trying to reach the same audience.

Example digipak covers we used for inspiration
In order to gain a true idea of what we want to use for the front cover of our digi pack, we decided to look at a variety of artists C.D covers in order to see what is the most popular running theme throughout. Here, we found that the majority of artists used themselves as the front cover, often relating to their name to create a certain image they want to portray to their audience.
After taking these aspects into consideration, we decided good photography would help our album stand out, and therefore we used a picture that we thought would reflect this.

What is a digipak?
A digipak is the artists’ packaging that comes inside a CD.
Typically, a digipak consists of the front cover which usually has the artist/band name on and a picture of them or something related to them.
Secondly, the back cover would usually include the track names on. A barcode for the shop and the record label's logo would be on the back of the album at the bottom.
Inside the CD, the digipak usually contains of a paperback booklet of pictures of the artist, lyrics and pictures. The CD itself normally could have an image on it, which could be the artist or band, album name, album cover or just an image.
Sometimes the CD contains bonus tracks which do not get released, this is another incentive for the target audience to buy their album. This allows the audience to think that they are 'better' fans if they buy the album as they are spending money on it and not illegally downloading it and then for buying it they are getting the bonus track which only people that have bought the album has.
The digipak is also a good opportunity for the artist to thank their fans, or to write a message 'directly' to the fan. This is also a good way of marketing and telling the fan how loyal they are for buying the album.

Cut song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_JgXobSTGA
This is the original song.
We have decided to cut it as the beginning is it starts off very slow and does not fit in that well with the rest of the song. From cutting the song, this allowed us to make the editing faster which kept up with the speed of the song.
We have cut off the beginning 1 minute 14 seconds.

Evaluation of the blog progress so far
Whilst completing our blog post, various aspects have changed. We have had to re-film some material as our continuity was not accurate on our first attempt at filming the school scene, therefore we had to take some time away from completing the blog in order to adjust this correctly. This had to be done immediately as we filmed on a day when the weather was good, and this would continue to change the longer we left it. We have worked well together in a team, creating a checklist of various tasks we want completing and set our self our own deadlines in order to keep the workload manageable and continue to get the work done in stages. We have shared the workload equally.
Our time-scale means we set our self a deadline of completing filming by the 10th of November, and we managed to meet this deadline with the rough cut and some, but not all of the editing.

Our future aims are to get the filming edited completely and put onto a disc in order to concentrate on the rest of the blog and digipack. We have also decided to allow extra time for the digipack and use images we have creates that look unique and different, therefore fitting into our pop genre and give the right portrayal of our artist.
Rough Copy
This is our rough cut of our music video. Since this was filmed, we have made a variety of changes with the most significant being updating the software used in order to make the filming run smoother. We have also improved the kitchen scene in order to make it more intresting, by cutting in other scenes. When the film goes blank we have also added in additional footage, we have also changed the glittery lips scene, as we felt it wasn't suitable as it was left for our music video. We have also changed the scene in the allyway as it was too slow, for our final music video we will continue to make adjustements accordingly.

Filming diary/Diary of a day shooting
Day 1 – Monday 17th October 2011 at 1.15pm, meeting on the benches at school. We decided to film the school scenes in the two hours we had free that afternoon. We wanted to film the scene with Alex looking isolated at school while the others laugh at her, a scene where the boys are running past Alex for the line saying ‘the boys aren’t really into girls at that age’.
Day 2 – Monday 24nd October 2011 at 9.05am, meeting outside school after signing out. We planned to film as much as we could for the house scenes. We are going to use Mary’s house for this as she lives within walking distance of the school. The scenes inside the house include the first verse, the verse where the song describes Mariella throwing all of the colour out of her wardrobe and a scene in the garden when she glues her lips together.
Day 3 – Friday 28th October 2011 at 9.05am, meeting outside school after signing out. We planned to film the rest of the scenes in the house that we did not finish the day before and also to go to Billericay to film the scenes in the park. This would include the scenes that say ‘she skipped down the road’, we decided to film in Billericay as the path there was very good for that line as it was straight and the trees looked effective on the camera.
Day 4 – Friday 4th November 2011 at 10am, meeting outside school after first lesson. This day we decided to film the rest that we hadn’t yet. This included the rest of the school scenes and anything else that needed finishing inside the house. This is hopefully the last day we are going to film. We also filmed some of the scenes where Alex has glittery lips.
Day 5 - Monday 14th November 2011 at 9.05am, meeting outside school after signing out. We have decided to try and get the rest of the filming done. We have the first verse, one chorus and 3 lines to film left. We also have a few words left to say with the glittery lips. This shouldn't take too long to film which is why we are using 3 hours to film. If we do not get everything we would like finished then we hope to film on Friday for two hours.
Day 6 - Wednesday 23rd November 2011 at 9.05am, meeting outside school after form. We want to film anything else that we haven't already and try to make this the last filming day. We only have the first chorus and the school scene left to film. We are going to use the whole day to film as we want to get it finished and edited before the deadline.
Day 7 - Friday 25th November 2011 at 1.15pm, meeting in class after form. Today we wanted to film the school scenes as we did not get to film this the last time we filmed. This shouldn't take too long as it only consists of two lines.
Day 8 - Monday 28th November 2011 at 1.15pm, meeting in the editing suit after form. We decided to film today as we wanted to insert an extra scene with Alex's glittery lips to fasten the editing pace and link the album cover to the music video.
Reshoots
Day 1: We have only had to re-shoot one scene so far. This scene was with Alex on the bench at school reading a book. We did this scene to show the girl is isolated at school. We re-shot this because Alex was not wearing the geek glasses during this scene. This was because at the time of filming we did not know we wanted to use glasses the whole way through, we thought the glasses would add to the girl's character and the feel of the . Also, her dress was different as it was on a different day. We have now re-shot this scene and it flows with the rest of the video.
Day 2: We have had to re-shoot again. This was because Alex had forgotten the geek glasses.
When this happened, we used over the shoulder shots to avoid Alex's face being shown in the scene. This allowed us to still film parts of the music video, without all of the props needed.
